Why I started writing

My interest in writing started in the 1970’s when I went to writing classes with my father. We shared a love of words and enjoyed the time together and I learnt the fundamentals, even though it would be a long time before I put them to use.

It was 2002 and we were living in New Zealand when I wrote my first article. It was about Reiki and Tarot and I sent it to the local Ponsonby newspaper, called Flat White, who changed one word, and published it. From then on I wrote regular articles for them until 2005 when we moved back to the UK.

For the next few years my writing took a back seat until 2015 when I decided to write my first book, my autobiography about my psychic experiences, entitled ‘Alchemy of the Soul – Learning to Dance With Your Own Divinity’ which was published in 2016.

I was recently asked why I chose to write all of my experiences down in this book, and the answer is quite simple, I realised one day that when I die, my experiences would die with me, so I decided to record them. If one day someone picks up this book, they might get help from it, and that would be wonderful.

Once I had written one book, the ideas came flooding through and I wrote my second book, my first novel, entitled ‘What am I Doing Here? A Journey Through Gaia’ which was published in 2018.This book can be read on two levels: one as a simple story and the other as an allegorical journey of self awareness and spiritual understanding, using the 22 Major Tarot cards. Through the Major Arcana, the main character, Isra, can understand the lessons presented to her, in order for her to learn and grow spiritually, throughout her lifetime.

My third book, published in January this year through Filament Publishing Ltd, is my second novel, entitled ‘One Life is not Enough – A powerful story of karma and reincarnation from Versailles to Brighton’, which deals with the subject of karma and reincarnation, helping others to learn how the soul grows from understanding the lessons gained from living on the earth; returning again from the spiritual realms to further grow and to remedy any negative events that have arisen from earlier incarnations. Events unfold in the racy Court of Louis XV in Versailles and finish in Brighton and Hove in the present day.

My book writing also renewed my writing of articles of a spiritual nature and I have regularly contributed to spiritual publications both in the UK and the USA and still do to this day.

Over the last couple of months, I have started writing short stories. Firstly for a local writers group, Writers on the Heath and more recently for WordPress.com who have started doing a monthly #wordprompt (writing a story from a ‘one word’ prompt).

I have also started writing my fourth book, but more about that later …..
