I would like to ask you a question
I saw a film advertised over Christmas about a business man who felt his life hadn’t been worthwhile until an angel came to him and posed the question: ‘What would the world have been like if you had never lived?’
I thought this was an excellent philosophical question.
Think about how you may have contributed to your family or your friends and whether there is anything that you are particularly glad that you did, or in the way you helped another person.
We never know just how a smile may have lifted a lonely person’s life; how paying a sincere compliment or being empathetic to another person in difficulty made all the difference to their world.
I can recall kind words said to me from many years ago.
Personally, I believe we are all ‘brothers in arms’, which historically has been an emphasis on the concept of fraternity and camaraderie among soldiers, however I view it the broader sense of us helping each other in getting through life.
My husband, Nigel, for example, has over the last few years organised reunions of the people he grew up with, who used to meet regularly in a pub frequented by budding musicians in the 1980s and early 1990’s. Now the word is spreading and more and more people attend each reunion, some who haven’t seen each other in 20 plus years. Quite a few are single and it is great to see them all catching up, having fun, drinking together as they did in the past.
As you probably know, I believe we are all here to learn and grow at soul level, however, life is also to be appreciated and enjoyed. So if we ask ourselves this question and think for the coming year, how can we make the world a better place, looking out for each other, whilst enjoying life as much as possible.
In closing, I would like to wish you everything you wish for you and yours in the coming year. Have a great 2024!
Happy New Year!
