The Rose is Blooming – My thoughts on my life’s progression

When talking to someone recently about ageing, she said to me: ‘The rose has to bloom’ meaning that our bodies will degenerate eventually, however, I’d like to extend my time of being in bloom!

As I approach another milestone birthday, I have decided to side step the number of the new decade, with the possible negative connotations it can bring, to declare myself ageless. I have seen others diminish as they accept their new birthday number and I am not prepared to let that happen to me yet, if ever.

Over the years I have developed both mental and physical routines to help maintain my appearance. Not that I am perfect by any means, but these routines have helped me.

I believe in what you think about most, you attract to yourself. I heard of a lady who kept thinking people would judge her for the wrinkles on her face – my advice to her would be to start talking to herself in a positive way, thanking her body for getting her this far and pointing out all the positive aspects of her body to herself.

Whatever we think puts out an energy vibration (good or bad) which in turn attracts to us whatever we are thinking about. Therefore, positive thoughts automatically bring good results. If we influence our subconscious mind with positive thoughts, it takes us at our word and produces the results we feed into it. Many of us are extremely critical of ourselves, however, we wouldn’t dream of criticising our friends in the same way, so why not be kinder to ourselves with loving thoughts and words?

Bruce Lee, the martial artist, was a great philosopher as well as a fighter, who wrote that to nourish your mind daily with positive thoughts would help us to respond instinctively in a positive way to what life may bring us.

Émile Coué, a French psychologist born in the 1800s, introduced a method of psychotherapy and self improvement based on optimistic autosuggestion who said ‘Every day in every way, I am getting better and better.’

Therefore on a personal basis of growing older, I would start with affirmations which are positive sentences of intent, something which I use every day. There are many affirmations we can make up for ourselves to be repeated daily or more often if required. For example: ‘I have loving energy in every cell of my body.’ If we add in at the beginning of the affirmation the words I AM that brings in a spiritual connection, (I will accept all the help I can get) for example : ‘I AM a youthful expression of life’.

Visualisations can also be done, such as imagining your energy or aura being pulled up from the top of your head which gives you the idea of keeping the gravity higher rather than sinking lower and lower as time goes on.

I have recently read that there is a cosmic law which states that whatever image you hold in your mind consistently will result in appearing on the physical level, so it makes sense to keep your images positive. I have had many experiences of this working for me over the years and you can read about one specific example in my September 2021 blog, entitled ‘How to place a Cosmic Order’.

This mental approach gives me a happy emotional base from which to work, combined with a number of daily physical routines.

I do a number of different facial and arm exercises, along with skin brushing to improve my body while my subconscious is working from the inside out. Of course, good diet, exercise, moisturising and hydration are all helpful factors too.

Every cell, tissue and organ in your body needs water to work properly. Drinking water also keeps your brain hydrated, preventing poor brain function as you get older, and will help plump up your skin cells giving you a smoother skin.

I hope this article has been of interest as I lovingly pass on these positive things that have helped me on my journey through life.
